In a landmark announcement on August 21, 2024, Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing confirmed that Eli Tomac will return for the entire 2025 SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) season. This decision marks Tomac’s final full year in professional SMX racing, aiming to add to his impressive tally of eight combined titles in Monster Energy AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross.

 

Tomac’s tenure with Yamaha, which began in 2022, has been marked by significant achievements, including dual championships in both 450SX and 450MX during his debut year. Despite injuries in the subsequent seasons, he has secured 15 victories in 450SX and 14 moto wins in 450MX, reinforcing his status as the winningest active rider. Notably, he holds the second spot on the all-time premier-class win list in Supercross with 52 victories and is the most successful rider at Daytona Supercross, boasting seven wins at the iconic venue.

 

Expressing his enthusiasm for the upcoming season, Tomac stated, “I’m very pleased to announce I’ve signed with Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing for the entire 2025 SuperMotocross season. I anticipate 2025 being my final full season of professional SMX racing.” He emphasized his commitment to returning to peak performance and competing for the SuperMotocross title.

 

While specific financial details of the contract were not disclosed in the official announcement, reports have surfaced suggesting varying figures. Some outlets claim the deal is valued at $50 million, highlighting the significant investment in Tomac’s talent and marketability.
