Jannik Sinner’s coach made a surprising statement about the Italian’s biggest rival, Carlos Alcaraz.
Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have formed one of the most exciting rivalries tennis has seen in recent years.
The young stars split the Grand Slam titles this year and they have both been No. 1 in the world, with Sinner currently occupying the top spot.
Sinner and Alcaraz have set themselves apart from the rest of the field. Even after Alexander Zverev surpassed the Spaniard in the rankings this week to return to No. 2, he said: “They are still the two best players in the world, in my opinion.”
The likes of Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal have also always spoken highly of the young Major champions. But as with any high-profile rivalry, fans are often at odds when naming the best of the two.
Even Goran Ivanisevic recently weighed in, claiming Sinner was “better” because of his consistency. But one man has surprisingly refused to pit the two rivals against each other.
Renowned Australian tennis coach Darren Cahill joined Sinner’s team back in 2022. He has played a pivotal role in the Italian’s rise to the top of the game. However, he doesn’t want to name his man as the best.
