Who Will Win Celtic Vs Rangers? Our Writers Make Their Predictions For Parkhead Showdown

The fierce Glasgow rivals go head-to-head with the pair fighting it out at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Legendary Lisbon Lions boss Jock Stein once famously said only a fool would try and predict the outcome of an Old Firm encounter.

But there are fools in the Record Sport team so they were more than happy to be put on the spot, look into their crystal balls and give their take on how the big game will on Saturday lunchtime. It’s the second derby showdown of the season as Rangers look to get revenge for the defeat at Ibrox in the first meeting of the season at Ibrox when Kyogo’s only goal of the game gave Brendan Rodgers victory in the first derby of his second spell as Celtic boss.

A lot has happened since then, though, with Philippe Clement replacing Michael Beale in the Rangers hot-seat and the Belgian has turned the Light Blues around. But he faces his biggest test yet at the home of last season’s Treble winners and without any supporters in the east end of Glasgow. Can he continued his unbeaten run? Here, the Record Sport writers give their predictions.

David McCarthy

It’ll be tight and I don’t think either team would complain if it ended all square, which it probably will. Kyogo has a knack of scoring against Rangers and the visitors will have plenty of goal threat against the weakest part of Celtic’s team.

Celtic have seen their lead in the title race cut and haven’t been performing as well as they can, but this is a huge chance to blast back on home soil which they can grasp.

Celtic 2 Rangers 1

Scott Burns

Rangers go in as the form team but that goes out the window in games like this. I think it will be tight. Rangers are going into the lion’s den without any fans. I can see the spoils being shared.

Celtic 1 Rangers 1

Michael Gannon

Both sides have been hampered by injuries but they both still carry plenty of threat. There could be goals in it, before the pair of them accept a share of the spoils.

Celtic 2 Rangers 2

Gavin Berry

If the visitors can leave Parkhead with a point then it will leave them in a position they would have bitten your hand off for at full time of the first Old Firm derby of the season. They are solid under Philippe Clement with three clean sheets in a row and this could be a tight affair – don’t expect a classic – which will suit Rangers down to the ground.

Celtic 0 Rangers 0

Graeme Young

A draw can often feel like a cop out but there’s a compelling case to be made that the latest instalment of this Scottish football classic ends honours even. All Philippe Clement’s good work was encapsulated in the stunning Seville win over Real Betis but Celtic are still a mean proposition at Parkhead. Their displays in the three Champions League home games underline that fact. But the dogged visitors have enough to get out of dodge with a share of the spoils.

Celtic 2 Rangers 2
