Brendan Rodgers Reminds Celtic Of Their’responsibility’ As The Manager Breaks His Silence On The Parkhead Exile’s Conclusion

Following a two-month ban, the supporter group will return to the Celtic Park stands for the match against Livingston.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has urged the Green Brigade that it is their “responsibility” to support the team as they return to the stands.

However, the Parkhead manager admits that it is a weight that must be shared by the entire support in Glasgow’s east end, as Rodgers remarked that the atmosphere would not be the same without the ultras. The Celtic Park decision-makers took action over offences outlined by the club, including a series of stadia incidents that racked up sanctions and fines for the Scottish Premiership leaders, and the fan group will return to the Hoops standing section for the match against Livingston.

But following crunch talks with the club a code of conduct has been signed to prevent more problems – meaning the fan group will be back in the North Curve section of the stadium when Rangers travel across the city for derby day on December 30. Rodgers gave his backing for the decision to welcome back the controversial group of supporters.

Asked about their return to the stands and how important the atmosphere could be for the club, Rodgers said, “Well, it’s everything. It’s what makes Celtic tick: the support, because there is such an emotional connection.

“Celtic’s history is littered with late goals and a big part of that is down to the fans and the whole stadium getting behind the team. That’s what makes Celtic.

“When you have the manager, the supporters and the players all on the same page it’s a real force that we have in the game. It hasn’t been the atmosphere for a number of weeks, but that is the responsibility of everyone.

“But we know when the atmosphere is white hot at Celtic it makes it a really difficult place to come, and it gives the players the extra edge as well. Listen for the guys to be back in there it’s great.

“They have given an ambience in that corner section. The club gave them that opportunity to have the first safe standing area in Britain, so hopefully they can get back in tomorrow and support the team. It’s their responsibility as well as the whole stadium to really get behind the team to help us get the result.”
