During an interview with a Bulgarian broadcasters (he is in Sofia to play an exhibition match organized through his Foundation with Novak Djokovic), Grigor Dimitrov analyzed Jannik Sinner’s doping issue, expressing his doubts about what happened.
Dimitrov spoke of double standards, to describe the issue, highlighting an alleged different treatment reserved for the young Italian.
“As I said before in New York, the handling of the protocols is the thing that surprised me the most about this. There are players who have gone through completely different processes, with different procedures. All of this makes me question and think that there are double standards. But it’s something that we see in other sports as well.
However, the way this case was handled was quite strange, even for someone like me who has been on the ATP Tour for many years. We know things from the inside, especially how tournaments are run. As a member of the players’ committee, it’s strange when something like this, whether it’s news or a dispute, suddenly comes out. It was strange for everyone,” he explained.
