Fans of Fever Receive a Direct Message from Caitlin Clark

Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark sent a message to Fever fans ahead of their critical matchup against the Dallas Wings on Sunday, September 15.

Clark has quickly become the face of the WNBA, breaking records in her rookie season. In Friday’s game against the Las Vegas Aces, she set the WNBA record for most assists in a single season, now sitting at 322.

The Fever, with a 19-19 record, are in a tight race for the sixth seed in the WNBA playoffs. A win in either of their remaining games or a Phoenix Mercury loss will secure the higher seed for them.

In a press conference before Sunday’s game, Clark addressed the media and thanked Fever fans for their support.

“I feel very lucky to play in this arena and in front of a fanbase that’s supporting women’s basketball the way they are,” she said. “It’s a true sellout. It’s packed to the top. People are here to scream.”

Clark then emphasized that the fans are a crucial part of the team’s success, even though they may not be on the court. “I think as a player, that’s something that you just thrive off of, hearing the crowd go crazy,” she added.

“I think, especially on defense, if you can put a little run together and go down, and you just stop, and you hear them, and you hype them up, and they listen to you, you feel powerful at the same time. So, it’s definitely fun. I wish we could have got the win for them, but I know Sunday’s going to be a lot of fun, too.”

In 38 games this season, Clark is averaging 19.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 8.4 assists per game. Tip-off on Sunday is set for 3:00 p.m. ET.
