Liverpool get Alexis MacAllister worry as agent speaks out on potential transfer

Latest Liverpool transfer news and gossip with updates on the fitness of Alexis MacAllister and Cesar Huerta’s move to the Reds collapsed

Liverpool made a superb start to the Premier League season. The Reds sit second behind Manchester City and have won their opening three matches without conceding a single goal.

After the international break, Liverpool are back in action when they host Nottingham Forest. They welcome the East Midlands outfit to Anfield on September 14. It’s a chance for the Reds to keep their 100 per cent start to the campaign going and continue the feel-good factor under Arne Slot, who has managed to get his side firing.

The Reds, along with many other Premier League teams, have several of their players travelling across the globe as they link up with their respective national teams this month. Slot will be hoping none of his players return back with injury or fitness concerns ahead of a hectic period before the next international break.

The ECHO puts together a round-up of some of the latest Liverpool stories to generate headlines over the last 24 hours.

Alexis Mac Allister is suffering with an adductor issue after being brought off in Argentina’s 3-0 win over Chile in the early hours of Friday morning. The Liverpool midfielder opened the scoring for the world champions, before being substituted in the 79th minute.

He had been an injury doubt before the game with manager Lionel Scaloni confirming that Argentina needed to assess him after the 25-year-old missed training earlier in the week after reporting for international duty.

“Alexis didn’t train because he was overloaded, he was in pain,” Scaloni told TyC Sports. “It always happens to us, they come out to do their part.”

Huerta agent speaks out

Cesar Huerta’s agent has opened up on how his proposed move to Liverpool didn’t go through this summer. The Reds reportedly made a late move for the Pumas forward, who scored 12 goals in 40 matches in the 2023/24 season.

Reports suggested that Liverpool wanted to buy him before sending him to Sunderland on loan. However, the Black Cats are said to have refused their part in the deal and a potential move collapsed.

Now, his agent Gabriel Moraes, has been speaking to Jovenes Futbolistas MX about the failed transfer. “The quality of the other options was not strong enough for Huerta to grow, to be a Liverpool player in 2025,” Moraes explains.

“That was the idea and Liverpool only wanted England and by law could not loan another Premier League player. Not all teams needed the position or could guarantee minutes during the 2024-2025 season. He [Huerta] deserved better but life is like that sometimes.”
