They didn’t want to let me go” – Watford player says Hornets have repeatedly blocked exit, but he’s happy where he is…

Watford’s Ken Sema has made a welcome return to the Sweden national team, earning a recall for the first time since Jon Dahl Tomasson took over as manager in February. Sema’s last appearance for Sweden was in November 2023, and he will be eager to start against Azerbaijan in the UEFA Nations League.

In a recent interview with the Swedish media, Sema opened up about his transfer situation during the summer window. He revealed that he had received approaches from clubs in Italy and England, but Watford refused to let him leave. Despite having less than a year left on his contract, Sema expressed his happiness at staying with the Hornets.

Sema stated that he had grown accustomed to life at Watford, having joined the club in 2018, and appreciated the status he had within the team. He also mentioned his personal life in London, where he has two children, as a factor in his decision to stay. While he is keeping his options open for the future, Sema is content with his current situation.

The 30-year-old left wing-back has had a loan spell at Udinese during the 2019/20 season and has expressed his enjoyment of his time in Italy. However, he is open to new opportunities and will wait to see what the future holds. With his contract expiring in 2025, Sema’s future is uncertain, but for now, he is focused on his return to the national team and his continued contributions to Watford.
