Southampton ace left in limbo as FIFA reject loan-to-buy transfer to European giants…

FIFA has rejected Kamaldeen Sulemana’s transfer from Southampton to Ajax due to late paperwork, leaving the player’s future uncertain. The deal, which was agreed upon just before the transfer deadline, was a season-long loan with an option to buy for £17 million. However, Ajax failed to complete the necessary paperwork on time, resulting in FIFA’s rejection of the transfer.

Sulemana, a 22-year-old Ghanaian winger, has failed to make a significant impact at Southampton since his transfer in January 2023 for a club-record fee of £22 million. Despite his potential, he has struggled to find his place in the team and has been a source of frustration for fans and coaches alike.

With the Turkish transfer window still open until September 13th, Southampton is hoping to find a new buyer for Sulemana and another player, Paul Onuachu, who was also part of the same transfer window. Onuachu, a Nigerian striker, was signed for £18 million but has also failed to live up to expectations.

The failed transfer is a blow to both Sulemana and Southampton, who were hoping to offload the player and recoup some of the transfer fee. Sulemana will now have to return to Southampton and try to regain his place in the team, while the club will have to explore other options for his transfer.
