Real Madrid will reportedly prioritise signing 28-year-old Spanish international Rodri from Manchester City in the 2025 summer transfer window.
According to an update by reputed journalist Duncan Castles, Rodri is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. However, the reigning La Liga champions do not want to sign the Manchester City midfield mainstay this year and will wait until the 2025 summer transfer window to launch the offensive. Meanwhile, the Premier League champions are eager to tie the 28-year-old to a new contract.
The rise and rise of Rodri
Rodri has established himself as one of the best players in the world since joining Manchester City from Atletico Madrid in July 2019. A native of Madrid, the Spaniard spent his formative years in his homeland, passing through the academies at CF Rayo Majadahonda and Atletico Madrid before graduating from the youth division at Villarreal
The 28-year-old rose in prominence after breaking into the first-team squad at Villarreal before Atletico Madrid re-signed him and enjoyed his services for a year. Meanwhile, Rodri’s stock has skyrocketed during his stint with Manchester City, going from strength to strength at the Etihad in the last half a decade.
The Spanish midfielder has turned out over 250 times thus far for Manchester City while chipping in with 26 goals and 30 assists. Meanwhile, Rodri’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of the who’s who of European football, with Real Madrid among his prospective suitors.
