Wolves defensive target now set to sign for Nuno Espírito Santo at Nottingham Forest in £12.7m deal

A player Wolves were heavily linked with this summer is reportedly now making a move to Nottingham Forest – and heading straight out on loan.

Gary O’Neil is seeking to sign a centre-back with experience before next Friday’s transfer deadline.

Wolves are expected to complete a move for Bastien Meupiyou, after an agreement was reached earlier this week. The player was reported to be having his medical by the end of this week.

But Wolves want another defender on top of Meupiyou.

Dara O’Shea was a target, but he appears to be joining newly promoted Ipswich Town.

Wolves also apparently had interest in Porto defender David Carmo this summer. But it has been all quiet on that situation for the past few weeks and now, he is making a move to Nottingham Forest.

Wolves miss out on David Carmo with Nuno’s Nottingham Forest set to land defender

According to Fabrizio Romano, David Carmo will actually now be signing for Nottingham Forest.

But he will be heading straight out on loan to Olympiacos, the team he was on loan at last season along with Wolves star Daniel Podence.

Romano wrote on X: “David Carmo to Nottingham Forest, here we go! Deal in place to sign Carmo on €11m fee plus €4m add-ons. Carmo will sign for #NFFC and then join Olympiacos, loan for this season

“Centre back travelling tonight to sign five-year deal.”

Interestingly, both of these clubs are owned by Evangelos Marinakis, who has seemingly influenced this move a lot.

Carmo was, at one point, the defensive target for Wolves with the ‘most substance’.

But he’ll now be making a move to the City Ground to sign for Forest, before heading straight to Olympiacos for another loan spell.
