Spanish club Sevilla have officially registered Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho for the current La Liga season, Soccernet.ng reports.
Sevilla signed Iheanacho after the expiration of his contract at Leicester City this summer, and he made his first appearance for the club two weeks ago in a 4-1 loss to Liverpool.
However, he had to sit out Sevilla’s opening game of the season against Las Palmas last week after it was revealed that the club failed to register him for La Liga due to the league’s stringent financial rules.
But on Tuesday, Soccernet.ng reported that Sevilla had found a way to navigate past La Liga’s rules after Argentina defender Marcos Acuna left the club for River Plate.
Now, in a new development on Wednesday, Spanish journalist Gonzalo Tortosa has confirmed that Sevilla have registered Iheanacho for La Liga this season.
With Sevilla completing Iheanacho’s registration, he will be available for selection when they play Villarreal at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan on Friday.
However, the Super Eagles star may not start for Los Nervionenses. Isaac Romero led the line for Sevilla last week, and it is likely that he will start again against Villarreal.
Sevilla have defeated Villarreal in three of their last five meetings at the Sanchez Pizjuan, and Los Nervionenses will be banking on that to get their first win of the campaign.
