Aston Villa are looking ahead to a second match of the Premier League season against Arsenal, who could arrive with plenty of problems
Premier League football returns to Villa Park this weekend with Aston Villa facing Arsenal – Unai Emery’s former side whom he masterminded a league double over last term, effectively ruining their title hopes.
But now it is a new campaign with new challenges to face – the Gunners so early in the season being one of them. Along with the return of a home support that last boosted the team to a 3-3 draw with Liverpool in May, Villa will be hoping a string of absences for the visitors can derail their chances on Saturday.
As per Birmingham Live ‘s sister site football.london, Mikel Arteta’s men returned to training following their opening day victory over Wolves. Photographs from the session provided an insight into some of the problems Saturday’s opponents have either battled or are yet to overcome.
The major one was Declan Rice’s inclusion. The England international had been withdrawn in the 85th minute of action against Wolves, seemingly with a calf problem, though this appears to have had little impact on his early-season progress and therefore he is in contention to face Villa.
