Leicester City’s Premier League opener against Tottenham has been dealt a significant blow with the news that Jamie Vardy and Conor Coady will miss the game due to injury.
Vardy has been absent since picking up a knock in the first pre-season outing against Villarreal and has yet to return to training.
Coady, meanwhile, limped out of the open training session at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday and has been ruled out for a month.
Patson Daka was also substituted in the first half of the defeat to Lens after suffering an injury and will likely be ruled out of the opener as well.
This leaves Leicester City with only Tom Cannon as their sole senior striking option.
Manager Steve Cooper expressed his concerns about the team’s performance in the defeat to Lens, citing a weak start to the second half and a lack of intensity in possession.
Cooper acknowledged that the injuries are a significant challenge, but emphasized the need for the team to learn from the defeat and improve massively before the Tottenham game.
