Newcastle to miss out on £51m winger but move could open door for 22-year-old

Newcastle United are still looking for the right player to take over the mantle from Miguel Almiron down the right hand side of the attack.

The Magpies have so far failed to shift the Paraguayan and there’s a fear amongst Newcastle fans that Miggy could be the one starting the season at right-wing again with the club running out of time to find his replacement.

Not only are Newcastle running out of time, but their options are also dwindling with Wolverhampton Wanderers star Pedro Neto, a player that Newcastle have long admired, could be on the move to a Premier League rival.

Reports today have suggested that Chelsea are close to wrapping up a £51 million move for the Portuguese international.

Pedro Neto looks Chelsea-bound which leaves Noni Madueke with a choice to make

The Athletic’s David Ornstein is suggesting that a deal is close with Chelsea set to fork out £51 million plus a further £2.5 million in addons for the 24-year-old Wolves star.

If that deal goes through then it could open the door for 22-year-old Chelsea winger Noni Madueke to leave the club with Newcastle heavily linked with an interest in the former PSV winger.

Indeed, it was suggested at the end of July that the Magpies had already agreed personal terms with Madueke, although those reports turned out to be wide of the mark.

Newcastle could look at a loan-to-buy option for Madueke

NUFCBlog have claimed today that Newcastle could be exploring a loan-to-buy deal for Noni Madueke similar to the one which saw Lewis Hall move from Chelsea to Newcastle last season which was finalised during this transfer window.

Whether Chelsea would be keen to do another such deal remains to be seen, but Madueke, you’d imagine, would certainly be keen for a move out of Chelsea now with another winger coming in to fight for his place.

A loan to buy would certainly benefit Newcastle who are currently locked in negotiations to break their transfer record for Marc Guehi. It would appear that funds are once again limited so the club could look to get creative with their next big signing.
