Defender set to complete free transfer after Nottingham Forest decision

Nottingham Forest transfer latest as defender Scott McKenna, who left the club in the summer, nears a move to his next club.

Former Nottingham Forest defender Scott McKenna is due to complete a move to Spanish side Las Palmas after taking his leave from the City Ground at the end of last season. Scottish centre half McKenna, 27, made 106 appearances for Forest across his four-year spell in the East Midlands.

Arriving in September 2020 from SPL side Aberdeen, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £3m, McKenna became a hit and played a significant role in helping the club finally seal promotion back to the Premier League in May 2022 – so much so that he earned the club’s player of the year award.

While Forest cemented their place in the top flight in their first season back in the Premier League, it was done largely without McKenna, who suffered from respective hamstring and collarbone injuries. He then fell out of favour last season, and spent the second half of the campaign in Denmark on loan at FC Copenhagen.
