Five Newcastle United players on notice as Eddie Howe looks for transfer windfall

Up to five Newcastle players could leave this summer with Callum Wilson and Kieran Trippier in the mix to move on

As many as five Newcastle players could still leave the club this summer. Eddie Howe may look to refresh his options for the upcoming Premier League season with a new-look squad for the campaign.

Newcastle finished seventh last term which was a respectable finish given a poor start to a season involving UEFA Champions League football for the first time in a generation. As a result of the European exploits, Howe’s side’s league form took a hit losing six out of seven matches between December 7, 2023, and January 13, 2024 before a solid March and April improved their final league position. The Magpies would have qualified for the UEFA Europa Conference League but Manchester United’s FA Cup final win scuppered supporters plan.

Callum Wilson

The former England international proved he still knows where the net is with nine goals from 20 Premier League appearances last term. However, now aged 32 it could be the right time for both club and player to part ways. The former Bournemouth man has struggled with injuries in recent times most notably a chest injury which kept him on the sidelines for over two months – Wilson had already struggled with calf and hamstring issues earlier in the season.

Saudi Arabia would be a potential destination for the forward with Ah-Ahli SFC and West Ham United interested in his service according to reports, with Wilson’s contract is set to expire on June 30, 2025.
