Alex Lowry, on loan from Hearts, will be unavailable to face parent side Rangers in the Scottish Premiership this week.
The 20-year-old Rangers Academy graduate is on loan at Tynecastle from Ibrox this season and will be unavailable for Wednesday’s match.
Alex Lowry has been an influential player for Hearts this season but was an unused substitute in the club’s 1-0 weekend victory away to Kilmarnock.
That result lifts Hearts up to 3rd place ahead of the visit of 2nd place Rangers in the Scottish Premiership this week and Alex Lowry isn’t the only Jambo who could miss the game.
Jambos pre-Rangers fitness doubts
Northern Irish striker Liam Boyce is a major doubt for the Hearts visit of Rangers but the Edinburgh Evening News are reporting he’ll be given “every chance” to prove his fitness.
The 32-year-old striker was subbed off after 30 minutes in the win over Kilmarnock and whilst Lawrence Shankland is Hearts’ first choice hitman the striker poses a useful option.
That said, the report claims the Jambos won’t take “unnecessary risks” on any player amid a hectic festive schedule and the striker’s involvement is up in the air.
Joining Alex Lowry and Liam Boyce is Costa Rican winger Kenneth Vargas, who missed the weekend’s win over Killie with an ankle injury. An exciting addition to the Tynecastle ranks, the tricky winger is a talented player and Hearts bosses are confident any problem is “not serious”.
Alex Lowry impressing with Hearts
Whilst Ibrox fans will be glad that Alex Lowry won’t be facing them on Wednesday evening, the youngster has made a big impression at Hearts.
Playing in 16 games for the club this season, the loan move has given the young playmaker that necessary Scottish Premiership exposure to date.
The hope is that the highly-rated young Rangers star can return to the club ready to make an impact on the first team and fans are keeping a close eye on his progress in Edinburgh.
Meanwhile Rangers and Hearts are set to do battle this week with the match very much a test of this team’s bottle.
