£77,000-a-week player who has rejected Nottingham Forest twice now left out of pre-season tour

Nottingham Forest have tried to sign a number of players over the years since their return to the Premier League with some coming off and some falling by the wayside.

Some of the recruitment since the Reds have reached the top-flight has been pretty good but other players have flattered deceive.

Forest have tried to sign real-quality and it’s hard to say that the club hasn’t shown ambition when it comes to their recruitment.

Although lots of players have been added to the ranks, Forest have been less successful with some of their other targets given their status in the Premier League.

Now, news has emerged this week of one player at a much bigger club than Forest who might be regretting his choices from the past.

Chelsea player left out of pre-season tour after rejecting Forest

In another universe, Trevoh Chalobah signed for Forest two transfer windows ago and has now had a season of Premier League football firmly under his belt.

The reality is that he’s rejected a move to Forest twice – as he wants to play in Europe – and is now back in London training alone whilst his Chelsea teammates go on a tour of the USA.

The Athletic reports that Chalobah has been left behind in order to get a transfer forced through should a club come forward with a proposal for him.

Forest have tried to sign him on two occasions. A deal was agreed last summer between Forest and Chelsea, with £25 million the reported sum, but the player declined.

The versatile performer earns £77,000-a-week at Stamford Bridge and as a youngster, he’d have likely proved an attractive signing for Forest.

Forest have to move on from Chalobah

Looking at the footage from the current training session out in Spain, it would appear as though the camaraderie within the camp is good.

As a result, Forest need to make sure they only have players who want to come to the club on their radar before the window closes.

Chalobah clearly isn’t keen on a move to Forest and with that in mind, there seems to be little point in persuing his signature any further.

It’s a shame that the former England under-21 player didn’t see Forest as the club for him as he could have proved very useful.

It will now be interesting to see where the Chelsea player does end up and it will be fascinating to see if he does land a move to a club playing in Europe.
