The 41-year-old now desires the Nottingham Forest player who was “extraordinary” in their matchup.

Nottingham Forest will undoubtedly face competition for Morgan Gibbs-White this summer, and a major club is already keeping an eye on him.

Naturally, when anything like this occurs, the reports multiply tenfold. Last week, it was reported that West Ham and Tottenham were interested in him, with Spurs signing Brennan Johnson from Forest last summer.

Gibbs-White has four goals and five assists for Forest during the 2023–24 season. At 24 years old, he is regarded as a player with a wealth of talent and, maybe more importantly, a very high ceiling.

The footballer switched from Wolves to Forest in the summer of 2022. Shortly after the Reds won promotion at Wembley, it became clear that Gibbs-White was Steve Cooper’s top objective.

Forest will now face some significant concerns regarding Gibbs-White this summer. With financial fair play still looming in the background, at least one elite player will depart, with Murillo also linked with big teams.

Last season, Forest defeated Arsenal 1-0 at the City Ground in May. Garth Crooks, a BBC analyst, described Gibbs-White’s performance that day as ‘amazing’.

Arsenal monitoring Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White

According to the Daily Star, Arsenal are one of several clubs looking into the prospect of signing Gibbs-White from Forest. The title chasers will have a significant bounty of cash and are now in the race to sign the 25-year-old.

Having forked out a fee that could eventually rise to £42.5 million to sign Gibbs-White, Forest won’t be letting him leave on the cheap.

It goes without saying, however, that Forest will have to sell one of their star players in the summer. If Nuno Espirito Santo can’t keep the Reds in the Premier League, a few top stars could be on their way.

At this stage, it’s claimed that Mikel Arteta is keeping tabs on Gibbs-White at Forest. The Gunners are firmly in the title race at the moment and they do look to be a club on the up.

Forest will hope star man can be kept beyond the summer

It would be seriously sad if Forest are forced to sell Gibbs-White this summer. He’s always given his all for the Reds and he’s developed into a firm fan favourite since his arrival.

According to Who Scored, Gibbs-White is at the top of the stats for Forest when it comes to key passes, dribbles and shots on goal during the current campaign.

With that in mind, it’s likely to take a seriously big offer from another Premier League club to tempt the Reds into a sale. Forest will want to make a profit and Arsenal might have to dig deep.

It’s a sorry state of affairs that Forest might find themselves close to the PSR threshold once again in the summer. As a result, the club must learn from this whole debacle and ensure that recruitment is more shrewd in the coming years.
