21-goal striker Nottingham Forest wanted before Awoniyi is now worth £34m

A striker Nottingham Forest wanted to sign before they landed Taiwo Awoniyi is now available for £34 million this summer.

The Reds endured a hectic summer following promotion to the Premier League, signing a staggering 30 players.

A number of loans from the promotion-winning squad returned and that left a few gaps in the Forest squad.

A striker was always going to be on the radar and Awoniyi checked in at Forest for a fee in the region of £18 million.

However, another striker was linked with Forest first and he’s now enjoyed a brilliant season with his valuation rocketing.

Forest-linked Artem Dovbyk now available for £34m

The striker linked with Forest in the immediate aftermath of the Wembley win was Artem Dovbyk and his career has gone from strength to strength.

A Ukrainian talisman, Forest wanted him for a fraction of the price they paid for Awoniyi when he was at SK-Dnipro.

The 26-year-old signed for Girona last summer and he’s helped the La Liga outfit become one of the surprise packages of the campaign.

During 2023/24, he’s scored 21 goals in all competitions and also registered nine assists.

Now, a report by Football Espana claims that Dovbyk has interest from Juventus, AC Milan and Napoli this summer.

It’s also claimed that the release clause in his contract is worth £34 million and Girona won’t be accepting a penny less.
