Instead, we’re talking about a player who may benefit both the Avalanche and another team, but who is unlikely to appear in the rumor mill. Ironically, a surprising but plausible trade here would involve a defenseman and one who always appears to play a physical game while also blocking shots. Josh Manson is that player, but not because he isn’t a good fit for the Avalanche, nor is he someone general manager Chris MacFarland’should trade.’ Instead, he’s the oldest player on the team’s blue line who isn’t a pending free agent and one that the Avalanche can afford to lose if they wanted to re-sign a defenseman.
